Task maps exist within embedADAPT's systemisation framework. If you have a task map in a system (or just need to understand when to use a role task over a process step) this article will explain the basic components.
A task map can contain 3 elements:
- Role Task
- Process Step
- Task Map Link
Role Tasks
A role task is described by a green box, similar to this:
Role tasks define the requirements of a task and allow you to allocate it to a role previously defined in embedADAPT. Role tasks should be rich descriptions (text, images, videos) of what is required to complete it, along with guidance questions or guidance materials.
A role task is the most detailed description of a task we have inside embedADAPT.
Process Steps
A process step is described by a blue box, similar to these:
Process steps are intended to contain other process steps or role tasks and act as a logical grouping for the role tasks.
You will most commonly see role tasks (the green boxes) inside a process step (the blue boxes). This means that the process steps has this collection of role tasks.
Task Map Links
Task maps can be linked to other task maps. You would normally do this if:
- a task map is better located in another team or function
- to reduce complexity of the task map
