Creating a diagram in a system

Systems can support many different types of data (text, diagram, task map, document, external page, video)

In this example, we'll create a diagram. Diagrams can be used to communicate flow, a hierarchy, block diagrams, task maps, etc. They are flexible and the presentation of each element is very customisable.

An example of a diagram is shown below:

To add a diagram, first switch it to edit mode:

Then choose the diagram from the add menu:

From there you will be presented with a dialog box allowing you to edit the diagram.  Enter a name for it, and then start editing the diagram. If you have used tools like Draw.io or Vision, then the process is quite similar

Elements are dragged from the palette on the left onto the canvas:

Every element can be customised to suit (Font, size, bold, background color, font color, border colour, etc).

You will notice that you can add Teams, Key Functions, People & Roles to the diagram too.  These are ‘live’ elements in that:

  • they will update if you change their details (e.g. a team name change)
  • they are clickable, so you can navigate by clicking on the element.
    • (Note this works in view mode only, not edit mode)
